Chapter 10

“Why am I so nervous about dinner?” Abby asked the next day. She smoothed her dress, the hem reaching to mid-thigh, just below the stockings she planned to share with Tyler later that night.

She blushed at the thought of his hands, lips, and tongue on places that she’d saved just for him. Who knew sex could be so much fun?

Okay, fine, everyone knew that, but she wasn’t a virgin anymore. She was surprised the town hadn’t thrown a parade or something for her. Knowing them, it’d have a banner proudly letting the world know that Tyler had made a woman out of her in big bold script. And, of course, the other ladies in town would have signs calling her the names they’d already said to her face.

Abby blocked those images, letting the one of Tyler fill her thoughts. Yes, he was better to think about anyway. Though everything had moved so fast that she was afraid to even blink, she was happy.

Thoughts of what would happen once things spiraled downward tried to claw at her, but she ignored them. She’d promised Tyler that she’d live in the moment and only think of a future filled with happiness—with him. She’d do it too. There was no use thinking that everything could fall apart at any moment because she needed to let everything sink in.

“You shouldn’t be nervous about dinner, Abigail,” Tyler said as he leaned down to kiss her neck.

Shivers skated over her, and she closed her eyes on a moan. Apparently, she really liked sex, as in wanting it all the freaking time. Even his touch would turn her on in an instant. She could have blamed her addiction on the fact that she was now a harpy, and, apparently, they were sexual beings, but she had a feeling that it was just her.

She had a lot of ground to make up for, and Tyler seemed to want to make sure she covered it. They’d made love twice more in the night, and though she was sore, she still wanted more. And by the feel of his touch and the front of his jeans, he was just as needy.

“I’m nervous because this is a Cooper family dinner, Tyler. It’s not just going out and casually meeting up with them. No, this is the dinner that’s for family only.”

“So? You should have been coming for a while now. You’re practically family as it is.”

Abby scrunched her face and let out a sigh-like growl. “That isn’t helping, you know. I know your brothers already know what’s going on with us and our…paranormal activities, but it’s not the same as a dinner. They’re going to look at us differently. And what if they don’t treat me the same?”

Tyler looked adorably confused and brushed a piece of hair behind her ear. “What are you talking about? My brothers would never hurt you. They might act odd or unsure, but I don’t think hurting would ever be a part of it.”

“But, they always treated me like a sister, even though I never went to any of their dinners.
